Gabriel Mendoza is a 2025 SS/RHP/C/2B/3B/OF with a 5-6 140 lb. frame from Phoenix, AZ. Medium, square shouldered frame with some present strength to frame and additional room to fill moving forward. Ran a 7.01 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, plays with bounce to step in the dirt, sound actions with a fluid arm path, shows carry across the diamond, fields the ball out front and gets lower on the approach. Stays low in the outfield moving towards the ball as well, takes short steps, shuffles into release, shows quickness to arm with accuracy to intended base; receives the ball out front behind the plate, shows accuracy down to second base, quicker transfer, can incorporate additional lower half into release. Also pitched, leg lift up past belt, deliberate tempo to delivery, full and online arm action through the back working to a three-quarters release point. Fastball topped out at 73 mph, shorter cut action to it, best when working on top of the ball, will continue to find a consistent release point, induced weak contact and showed short shape to curveball up to 67 mph. Switch-hitter, bit more lift from left side, slightly open stance with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; long path through the zone, tends to open front side early in swing, creates some extension out front. High hand set and back elbow at the plate with an open stance, gets closed moving into contact, full swing path with some intent while getting the barrel out front, can shorten up lower half mechanics moving forward.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
