2020 California Workout Camp (Sunday)
Braden Giardina is a 2024 OF/RHP with a 5-11 130 lb. frame from Merced, CA who attends El Capitan. Medium slender build with plenty of room to grow and fill out as he continues to develop. Primary outfielder, meticulous with his glove work, shows solid athleticism moving into the gap. Arm strength will continue to develop nicely alongside his build. In the infield, fields out in front and stays in front of the ball well. Accurate across the diamond while on the move. Looks to make strong first step reads off the bat. On the mound, has a short arm action from a high three-quarters slot. Methodical motion, fastball up to 75 mph, works with a low front side down the hill after separating. Mixes in a hard 12-to-6 curveball that possesses solid spin but developing command. Ability to miss bats when located down in the zone. Also throws a 58 mph straight change. At the plate, is a switch hitter with a similar stance from both sides. Sets up wide, is slightly more open from the left side of the plate. Backside collapses from the right side of the plate, finds a more flat barrel path through the zone from the left side. Sprays the ball round the diamond. Plenty of room for his power tool to improve. Good student in the classroom as well.
