Matthew Caldwell is a 2022 OF/RHP with a 5-10 140 lb. frame from Newport News, VA who attends Warwick. Recorded a 7.58 in the 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder plays back on the ball while funneling the ball out front with a quick transfer and release accurately throwing the ball 80 mph to the bases with developing footwork. The right-handed hitter steps to the plate with a straight and even stance, high hands, and a high back elbow with a simple leg lift trigger. Caldwell has quick hands and good barrel control working the ball middle of the field approach as he is developing backspin on the ball. Secondary right-handed pitcher from the stretch only moves with a coiling high leg lift, lands closed off, and hides the ball very well from a three-quarter arm slot generating a fastball that has late sinking action topping 79 mph. Good student.
