2005 World Showcase
Colby Dye is a right handed pitcher/outfielder from South Jordan, Utah, with a very projectable 6'4", 165 lb. frame. Dye throws from a 3/4 to low 3/4 arm slot. He has some slinging arm action that produced a fastball that topped out at 82 mph. Dye gets some arm side run on his fastball. He sometimes gets under the ball on his release which hurts his velocity. Dye also mixed in a slurve at 67-70 mph. At the plate he has a short bat path with whippy action. He did hit a double to the left field fence during a showcase game. Dye will improve his velocity if he can stay on top of the ball. He has a very projectable body, and the added strength will improve his velocity as well. He has a solid future if he can get in the right program and he is a good student.
