Alex Cromwell is a 2023 3B/RHP/C with a 6-0 185 lb. frame from Baltimore, MD who attends St. Paul's. Recorded a 5.32 second forty-yard dash time. Long, lean frame with well-proportioned strength throughout and room to physically mature. Primary infielder with good approach angles into the fielding process, first step quickness and good lateral range to both sides. Works downhill through the baseball with clean funnel out in front and accurate, strong arm across the diamond. Recorded arm strength up to 85 mph. Secondary right-handed pitcher; full windup delivery with elongated rocker step, high leg lift and slight cross-fire release. Fastball topped out at 82 mph from a high three-quarters arm slot, flashing some late life through the zone. Mixed in developing breaking ball that varied in shape and lacked consistent spin traits. Showed well during the catchers portion of the defensive workout as well, gaining ground efficiently towards his target and displaying a slightly elongated and round mid-line transfer. Recorded arm strength up to 80 mph from behind the plate with accuracy and carry. Right-handed hitter that hits from a wide, slightly open stance with tight hands, a high back elbow and hover trigger. Incorporates rhythmic hand load and rotational lower half mechanics to get to launch, while displaying quickness to his hands and line drive barrel plane. Gap-to-Gap approach with good feel for the barrel, leverage out in front and power potential when on-time. Compact swing that translates well into game action, will continue to improve with additional strength. Fundamentally sound prospect with positional versatility and plenty of upside remaining. Good Student. Named to the 2021 Northeast Indoor Top Prospect List.
