2020 Fall Midwest Workout Showcase
Colton Angell is a 2024 3B/RHP, IF with a 6-1 185 lb. frame from Oshkosh, WI who attends Oshkosh North. Large frame with beginnings of strength. Frame projects to support additional strength. Primary third baseman with sound footwork while traveling to and surrounding the baseball. Smooth, polished glove actions while funneling the baseball and working through exchange. Released from a three-quarter slot producing accurate, online carry to the bag at 75 mph. Also worked out defensively from first base showing similar clean footwork with solid glove actions. Moves around the bag well and showed quick exchanges while throwing to second base, topped at 75 mph. Right handed hitter with an upright, slightly open stance and toe tap trigger. Works to contact with linear lower half actions. Hands stay compact to contact and employed a slightly lifted barrel plane through extension. Displayed present bat speed and strength at contact and consistently drove the ball through the gaps with ease. Also pitched showing a side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays on line throughout delivery while releasing from a three-quarters arm slot. Fastball came out of hand cleanly creating some heavy downhill tilt to the bottom of the zone in the low 80's, topped at 81 mph. Curveball showed 11/5 shape with tighter spin and late depth in the upper 60's. Also flashed a changeup offering that generated good run to arm side in the low 70's.
