Gage Dawson is a 2022 OF/RHP with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Tomball, TX who attends Tomball HS. Gage is a long and lean athlete who shows twitchy action. His sound fundamental base allows him to play with consistency and confidence. Gage is also a high achieving student in the classroom. He ran a 7.31 60 yard dash which is plus average for his age group. A primary outfielder, Gage shows uses his plus baseball IQ to perform quite well. He reads the ball off the bat well and is quick to position. He plays through the fielding operation with sound, yet measured momentum. He transitions well and his throws show sound carry and routine accuracy. On the mound, Gage works fast and throws strikes. Two admirable traits for a young pitcher. His mechanics are fairly conventional and he has a mature ability to repeat them well. He incorporates a whippy 3/4 arm slot which helps add to his deception. He showed two sound pitches that have some projectability. He works primarily off his well commanded 73-78 mph fastball. He throws to the edges and stays off the middle of the dish. His 10/4 shaped hybrid breaking ball is a knee buckler that shows sharp sweeping action that the hitters have a tough time tracking. There is some upside to Gage's pitching game. At the plate, Gage presents with a balanced stance and incorporates a bigger stride in his operation. His bat plane creates a steeper launch angle . When his timing is there, he strikes the ball well. His hit game is still evolving and will get to where he wants it to be with continued reps and focused attention to detail. His fundamental idea with a bat in his hands is sound. Gage is a toolsy rising player with noted athletic ability. As he adds strength and some girth, he will make a big jump up the ladder.
