Matthew Melendez is a 2021 2B/SS, MIF with a 5-7 160 lb. frame from River Grove, IL who attends Notre Dame College Prep. Medium frame with slender, athletic build; ran 60 yard dash in 6.80 seconds. Hits from even-based stance, really coils into back hip, stiffer in upper half, length to stroke with slashing path at times, good bat speed and linear strength, shows whole-field approach with extra base pop. Worked out in the infield, swivels hips well and shows good balance, quickness to feet, plays low, clocked up to 77 mph on throws across with quick release. Very good student.
