2023 Sunshine South Showcase (Tues/Wed)
Gus Begert is a 2025 OF/RHP, MIF with a 6-3 190 lb. frame from Austin, TX who attends Anderson. Primary outfielder with a larger athletic build. Ran a 7.21 second sixty. Takes a measured approach to the ball in the outfield folding it on the side and carrying some momentum into the throws. Shows some arm strength with accurate throws to the bases. Works with slow and controlled tempo to the delivery with good balance to the on the drive to the plate. Arm works long through the back to a higher three-quarter arm slot topping out at 82 mph with some whip in the arm. Flashed a 12-6 breaking ball with good depth and an ability to bury it below the zone later in counts for swing and miss. Right-handed hitter, starts with an upright stance and open base. Simple stride to trigger the swing with a path to the inside part of the ball using his lower half and core to create rotation to the point of contact with louder contact to the pull side. Excellent student. Named to the 2023 Sunshine South Showcase Top Prospect List.
