2023 New York Workout Showcase (Thursday)
Matt Podesta is a 2025 C/IF with a 5-9 170 lb. frame from Lake Grove, NY who attends Sachem North. Podesta worked exclusively from his primary spot behind the plate, showcasing fundamentally sound mechanics with repeatability and compactness to the arm stroke, ultimately topping out at 78 mph. He did a nice job of gaining ground in the footwork which should reflect in a low pop time. Offensively, Podesta started from an even base utilizing a hover trigger with easy hand speed through the zone to produce loud contact back up the middle. He repeated the stroke well with additional power potential on the way. Posted an exit velo of 82 mph. Good student. Named to Top Prospect List.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
