2023 13U/14U Sunshine Rocky Mountain Showcase (Tues/Wed)
Tyler Johnson is a 2027 LHP/1B/OF with a 5-8 155 lb. frame from Grand Junction, CO who attends Grand Junction. Lean compact frame, uses whole body well in the actions and will grow. Ran a 8.45 60-yard dash. Primary left-handed pitcher, full windup, hands start at chest then drop to belt, side step to chest high leg lift, slight coil at the top creates some deception, low three-quarter slot, fills up the zone and produces weak contact, really lived in the lower half of the zone, pounded heater arm side, cuts the heater some, developing feel to spin the curveball right now, pitchability present. Secondary first baseman, okay hands out front, waits back on the ball some, accurate throws across, solid on the turn, has an idea around the bag with some feel for the spot. Took reps in the outfield, deliberate footwork, extra steps through release, offline arm path at times, similar accuracy to the bag from the grass, active gamelike round, lower slot here. Left-handed hitter, slightly open, low hands with high back elbow, covers the plate well, level bat path, inconsistent trigger, some nice pull side contact in the round. Projectable athlete with feel for the game and good actions all around. Good student. Named to the 2023 13U/14U Sunshine Rocky Mountain Top Prospect List.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
