Jake Wise is a 2025 RHP/2B with a 5-6 120 lb. frame from Glen Allen, VA who attends Benedictine. Young, narrow shouldered frame with a lean build and room to fill throughout. Ran an 8.69 60-yard dash. Primary right-handed pitcher, abbreviated wind up, belt high leg lift with a medium arm action through the back working to a high three-quarters release point. Effort at release, quick arm action and fastball topped out at 74 mph, maintain velocity out of the stretch and worked around the zone. Mimicked arm speed on both curveball and changeup; curveball shows 12-6 shape with depth and sells changeup well, straight change up to 64 mph, mixed well and landed curveball regularly for strikes early in the count. Fields the ball out front in the infield, young footwork, shows quickness to arm, gets it out of the glove, worked mostly on top of throws, did get on side of ball at times, shows softness to hands. Right-handed hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; slight coil prior to weight shift moving into contact. Stays short to the ball with swing path, consistent linear plane through the zone. Worked to the middle and pull side parts of the field, will continue to refine overall mechanics, swings with intent and gets the barrel through the zone. Very good student.
