Alonzo Castruita is a 2024 SS/RHP, 2B with a 5-11 160 lb. frame from Chula Vista, CA who attends Eastlake. Medium frame with a lean, athletic type build. Ran a 7.88 second sixty yard dash. Primary Shortstop, proving to have lateral range as he worked to the baseball taking efficient routes. Scooped it up out front before working into transfers. Accurate around the bag as he threw it 72 mph during drills. Secondary Right-Handed Pitcher, staying balanced throughout the delivery as he lifts before driving down the hill. Shorter arm circle in the back before releasing from a three-quarter slot. Slight crossfire in the delivery creating natural deception as he filled up the zone with a two pitch mix. Fastball up to 79 mph showing arm side run. Also mixed in a breaking ball showing 11-to-5 break that was sharp when down in the zone. Right-Handed Hitter, starting open before working into load and separation. Long and loose swing as he worked into a linear path through the zone. Proved he could find the barrel and generated loud contact when he got extended. Projects more power down the road with a strength gain. Good Student.
