Derek Matos is a 2022 1B/OF with a 6-0 170 lb. frame from Mayaguez, PR who attends . Recorded a 7.54 second 60-yard dash time. Medium frame with some physicality to the overall build and room to add strength. Primary first baseman who fields off to the side with some smoothness to the glove hand. Longer arm stroke with currently developing arm strength. Turns well with feel for the nuances of the position. Left-handed hitter with an even and open stance with a high hand set and a high back elbow. Swivel hand load with a full swing path and a late trigger at times. Works through the ball with his lower half and hips along with a pretty smooth swing plane overall. Path is long at times with some strength when squared. Tremendous student.
