2022 13U/14U Mid-Atlantic Prospect Showcase
Kyle Doherty is a 2026 LHP/1B, OF with a 5-8 130 lb. frame from Kennett Square, PA who attends Kennett High School. Medium, slender frame with a high waist, long levers and plenty of physical maturation remaining. Recorded a 7.90 second sixty-yard dash time. Primary left-handed pitcher worked from an abbreviated windup with a coiled leg lift and good lower half movements down the slope. Incorporates good rhythm and tempo to his delivery, a clean arm action on the backside and developing arm speed. Fastball worked in the 64-67 mph range for the majority of his outing and topped out at 68 mph from an extended three-quarters arm slot. Showed ability to be around the zone with his three-pitch mix, landing his slurve shaped breaking ball for strikes and flashing a firm changeup as his go-to secondary offerings. Will continue to add velocity as he gains strength, which will aide in the overall development of his repertoire. Secondary first baseman with a developing defensive skill set. Displayed a deep funnel to field out in-front, while showcasing decent turns to throw from a lower arm slot and delivered fairly accurate throws up to 72 mph across the diamond during drills. Took part in the outfield portion of the defensive workout as well, where he showed things to project on moving forward. Came and got the baseball with smoothness to his actions, fielding it slightly off his front foot and maintained momentum into release. Stayed online and got through the baseball well, as he recorded accurate throws up to 74 mph during drills. Right-handed hitter that hits from a balanced, slightly open stance with a high hand set, high back elbow and leg lift trigger. Incorporates rotational lower half mechanics, stays in his legs well into launch and showed the ability to stay through the middle-of-the field. Displayed consistent contact throughout and will continue to expand his overall hit tool as he adds strength and makes proper swing adjustments. Excellent Student.
