Oscar Rodriguez is a 2024 C/OF with a 5-10 167 lb. frame from Brownsville, TX who attends Veterans Memorial. Recorded a 8.26 second sixty-yard dash time. Medium, young looking frame with plenty of time and room to physically mature. Primary catcher that works from a side-saddled setup, receiving softly out in front and gaining ground towards his target with a short two-step action. Exhibited fairly short and quick mid-line transfers into a compact arm action, while displaying arm strength up to 71 mph from behind the plate. Slightly segmented process that will continue to improve with additional strength and refinement. Right-handed hitter that hits from an upright, slightly open stance with a high back elbow and hover trigger. Developing bat-to-ball skills with occasional leverage out in front and the potential for more bat speed as he adds strength. Middle-of-the field approach with swing that translated well into game action with multiple well-struck line drives. Intriguing prospect with plenty of projection remaining and skill set that plays up in game. Good Student. Named to the 2020 National Underclass South Showcase Top Prospect List.
