2022 Pitcher / Catcher Indoor Showcase
Cole Southard is a 2024 RHP/OF with a 6-2 165 lb. frame from Des Moines, IA who attends Dowling Catholic. He has a large frame with a slender, athletic build that has plenty of room to add strength. Primary right-handed pitcher that works exclusively from the stretch. He has a quick, knee above the belt leg kick and does a nice job of working in line with the plate. He has a medium and in line arm action and fires from a high 3/4 slot. He has natural arm side run on his fastball and did a nice job of locating it to both sides of the plate. He did a nice job of working this pitch inside on right-handed hitters, generating weak contact. His off speed pitch is a big 11-5 curveball that has nice sharpness to it. He does a nice job of changing velocities on his curveball, giving it different looks depending on the count. He showed nice command over both pitches. Right-handed hitter that starts in an even base that is slightly open with low hands and a low back elbow. He has a longer stride for timing and has a flatter path through the zone. He looks to work the ball into both gaps and stays on balance well. Excellent student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
