2023 WWBA Workout Showcase (Wed)
Carmelo Jones is a 2024 OF/MIF with a 5-9 150 lb. frame from Douglasville, GA who attends Mceachern. Medium frame with some projection and wiry strength to him. Room for added physicality and moves athletically. Ran the 60 yard dash in a solid 6.81 seconds. Primary position OF, moving aggressively to the ball and getting good carry through the plays. Glove works out front to midline transfer and clean arm path. Throws up to 82 mph with good carry and accuracy back to bags. Solid feel for the spot. Reps on the IF as well, moves well on his feet and creates solid angles. Glove work has a way to go here but makes plays with athleticism. Offensively starts with a wide base and heal lift for his trigger. High handset and works directly to the ball but will get a touch steep from time to time. Hands maintain control of the barrel and he gets to impact with good strength. As he adds physicality and gets on plane earlier there is some real projection with the stick. Outstanding student too.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
