Carter Chi is a 2024 SS/OF with a 5-9 150 lb. frame from Cerritos, CA who attends Cerritos HS. Carter is a skilled and twitchy athlete who has as his base a sound grasp of fundamental play. In addition to his commendable ability on the field, Carter is also an exemplary student. He ran a 7.51 60 yard dash. A primary MIF, Carter reads the ball well off the bat and shows smooth and easy footwork to position. His glove work is pure. He fields out front and funnels to throw with plus rhythm. He transitions quickly and confidently to his plus average arm. He gets his throws on the way in a hurry. All his tosses show solid plane across the diamond and are highly accurate. Carter also took his turn in the OF when he used the same basic defensive approach. His quick feet and easy reads, allow him to position with confidence. He really plays through the fielding action with plus momentum. His transition is routine and his 80 mph throws show carry and plus accuracy. Carter has a powerful leg lift and coil at the plate. He shows some steepness to his swing plane and some feel for the barrel. He also displays strength in his hands to should help him continue to develop his offensive game. For a younger player, Carter has some toolsy upside that should only improve as he matures physically and gains experience at a higher level - sound prospect (cjm)
