Zion Martinez is a 2027 SS/RHP/2B with a 5-7 140 lb. frame from San Bernardino, CA who attends Yucaipa. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean build, room to fill moving forward. Ran an 8.18 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, moves well and gathers behind it well, confidence in actions and shows both quickness and smoothness to hands, accurate throws and repeats well, shows ability to throw from multiple slots while maintaining body control. Also pitched, worked exclusively out of the stretch, works across body a bit but shows a whippy and full arm action; fastball topped out at 79 mph, gets into lower half well, lower slot with extension out front and mixed a curveball up to 66 mph with 11-5 shape, tends to raise slot on release. Left-handed hitter, begins with an open stance and a high hand set nad back elbow at the plate; remains balanced throughout swing and does a nice job of getting the barrel out front. Quickness to hands, ball comes off well and shows ability to go the other way on a line with present bat speed, creates separation and leverage in stroke. Named to the 14u Main Event Top Prospect List.
