Grayson Bonanno is a 2023 RHP/1B/3B with a 6-3 195 lb. frame from Encinitas, CA who attends La Costa Canyon. Some body potential as control improves and develops some agility. Primary right-handed pitcher, flashed good explosiveness off the mound with a backside collapse. Has some feel for the delivery, arm is on time with a high release; great job getting some downhill life on the fastball up to 82 mph. Really looked for the zone translating to arm speed and command. Had some depth on a big breaking ball, held some tight spin and good shape. In the outfield, takes some heavy steps in approach holding back plenty of momentum and ground coverage potential. Two-handed gather through the ball, flashes some arm strength. At first base, has the corner infield body but missing some field awareness in the infield. Arm strength shows more effective out of the corner infield, fields it clean and has a quick release. Limited lateral range, but good reach makes it work. Right-handed hitter starts open, gets a weigh shift load that lands on time. Hands can disconnect with a mostly flat barrel path through the zone, has some bat speed to it. Utilized all fields, had some good jump off the barrel when there is squared connection. Good student.
