2020 California Workout Camp (Sunday)
Henry Wonderlick is a 2025 1B/RHP, 3B, OF with a 6-1 193 lb. frame from Orange, CA who attends Undecided. Henry is a large and emerging athlete who has the frame to add strength as he matures. In addition to his promising future on the diamond, Henry is also an exemplary student. He ran an 8.21 60 yard dash. A primary first baseman, he has the right idea about play around the bag. His glove work is consistent and sound and he transitions well to a 65 mph throwing arm. His tosses around the diamond are sure and certain. Henry also took a turn on the mound. He pitches from the stretch only and utilizes a long and consistent arm stroke. He pitches off his 68-71 mph fastball that he works to both edges of the plate. He is developing two secondary pitches that show promise. His 60 mph 12/6 breaking curveball shows the right action and enough spin that it will unquestionably be a plus pitch moving forward. His 64 mph change up, that he has sure feel for now is an offering that will absolutely continue to improve. At the plate, Henry shows a certain mechanical operation that should allow him to drive the ball with authority as he matures. He has a sure swing path and makes consistent contact. When his strength catches up to his size, and it will, watch out. he is going to impact the baseball with force. No one can teach Henry's size or everybody would be a big guy. No one can teach his obvious "want to". It is very apparent that baseball is important to this young player. As he enters HS next fall, he'll get the right weight room instruction and the right on field tutoring to take advantage of his ability and his desire. There is a lot to like about Henry's future.
