Travis Thompson is a 2022 RHP/1B with a 5-11 200 lb. frame from Highland, MD who attends Reservoir. Recorded a 5.78 second forty-yard dash time. Compact, medium frame with present lower strength and room to physically mature. Primary right-handed pitcher; deliberate paced to delivery with belt high leg lift, drop and drive lower half mechanics and some extension out in front. Fastball worked in the upper-70s for the duration of his outing, topping out at 81 mph from a high three-quarters arm slot. Showed good command of the strike zone, hiding the ball well and effectively locating his fastball that occasionally cuts. Mixed in developing breaking ball that varied in shape and flashed potential when throw with conviction and out in front. Secondary first baseman with fundamentally sound defensive skill set; fields out in front, displays quick turns with athleticism, clean actions with accurate throws to the bags. Recorded arm strength up to 83 mph across the diamond. Right-handed hitter that hits from a narrow, open stance with an exaggerate high hand set, high back elbow and quick leg lift trigger. Lofted stroke with slightly elongated swing path and developing feel for the barrel. Pull-side approach with aggressive intent, occasional line drive impact and some carry to the gaps. Will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments. Good Student.
