2022 Northern California Prospect Showcase
Alex Escalante is a 2025 SS/RHP with a 5-3 123 lb. frame from Stockton, CA who attends St. Mary's. Compact, wiry build with athleticism that oozes in many facets of his game. Ran a 7.29 in the 60-yard dash. Infielder, showed advanced feel for the leather with range to either direction. Feet and soft hands are in-sync along with a clean transfer. Short arm stroke produced easy on-line throws. Right-handed pitcher, works from a compact and low three-quarter slot. Simple operation that filled the zone, fastball up to low-80s with hard running life. Mixed in a late breaking slider with wipeout traits as he matures. Right-handed hitter, narrow base and high hand set. Solid coil to load and shifts weight well to produce bat speed on a linear path. Long barrel through the zone with feel at the plate. Lots of hard contact to all fields. Good student.
