Austin Gerken is a 2027 C/RHP/IF with an athletic 5-10 189 lb. frame from Orange, CA who attends Mater Dei. Started the event off clocking a 7.42 60-yard dash. A primary catcher that pitches. Gerken was one of the best catchers at the event. Shows athleticism in his set up behind the plate, active feet, clean transfers and a strong accurate arm. Offensively, he has a strong presence in the box with excellent rhythm and timing. There is some present bat speed with over the fence power potential. Showed pull-side pop in his BP round where he was able to barrel it up consistently with backspin. On the mound Gerken features a 3-pitch mix (FB, CB, CH) out of a 3/4 slot. Shows a clean repeatable delivery. Works linear down the mound attacking hitters with fastballs early in the count. Secondary offerings play well off of the fastball. Hitters were off balance. Worked one inning, striking out one topping out at 82 MPH. Excellent student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
