Spencer Merrick is a 2023 C/2B, 3B with a 5-7 160 lb. frame from Abington, MA who attends Abington. Medium, square shouldered frame with present strength and additional room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran an 8.16 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, lower set up behind the plate, receives the ball out front, works into a tight arm action on throws and stays short through the back, gains short ground with footwork, accurate throws and repeats actions, will continue to refine lower half mechanics. Right-handed hitter, begins with an even and bent knee stance with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; barrel wrap at start, long swing path through the zone. Works on a linear plane through the zone, worked mostly to the middle and pull side parts of the field, occasionally gets to front side early with weight shift.
