2006 Nor Cal Underclass Showcase
Taylor Kees is a 2008 OF/P with a 5'10'', 150 lb. frame from Alameda CA, who attends Bishop O'Dowd HS. Selected as a Top Prospect at this event. Kees has a wiry, athletic body type, on a medium frame. He is a talented all-around player, with his hitting and defensive abilities shining brightest at this stage of his development. He is very comfortable in the batter's box and has a feel for hitting. Kees has an excellent approach, letting the ball travel, trusting his hands, and hitting the ball the other way. He produces good bat speed with an easy swing and has quick hands that allow him to get to the pull side too. He is short to the ball, stays inside and has good timing. His bat control is outstanding and should allow him to hit in the top third of the line-up. Defensively he has a good arm and is a good thrower. He has body control, sets up well and is athletic. He flows to the ball well and even without above average speed, he could play centerfield for some teams. On the mound Kees showed off a quick arm and has more velocity coming in the next few years. His fastball topped at 81 and was sneaky. He showed a decent change-up and threw strikes. As he gets strong, expect Kees to make a lot of noise with the bat. His running times should also get faster as he gets stronger.
