John Thornton is a 2027 C/RHP/1B with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from Jensen Beach, FL who attends Jensen Beach. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and present strength to frame, additional room to fill moving forward. Ran a 7.49 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, lower set up behind the plate, receives the ball closer to body, gets it out quickly, sound footwork coming out of crouch and shows consistent actions in live play with multiple caught stealings, arm splays and shows accuracy down to second base. Fields the ball out front in the outfield, turns body at the ball receiving, will continue to refine overall actions. Compact and tall delivery on the mound, shorter arm action through the back and does a nice job of remaining on line down the mound. Fastball topped out at 79 mph with short sinking life to it, attacked the zone and challenged hitters, pitched mostly off of fastball and showed both a curveball and changeup. Right-handed hitter, begins with a spread and bent knee stance, high hand set and back elbow at the plate. Low effort and easy swing, late movement in hands with load, comes off well at the point of contact when squared up; shows rhythm to swing with balance throughout.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
