Kyler Vandonge is a 2024 SS/RHP, IF, UT with a 5-11 150 lb. frame from Topeka, KS who attends Washburn Rural. Recorded a 6.94 second sixty yard dash time. Lanky frame with plenty of room to fill. Primary shortstop, with some feel for the glove and quick hands. Ball jumps out of the hand well with smooth footwork and can make throws on the move. Also impressed defensively with a heads up play at shortstop catching a line drive and throwing to third base to double up the runner. Also threw an inning on the mound. The right-handed pitcher works from a chest-high leg kick with a full motion. Shorter arm action with good front side glove path that brings the throwing arm through cleanly from a three- quarter arm slot. More slinger mechanics on the mound. The fastball (1878 RPM) has good arm side run letting it start in the middle of the plate and letting it run into the hands of right-handed hitters. Fastball was mid-70s and topped out at 77. Mixed high and low in the zone with the fastball early. Loopier shape to the breaking ball with 12-6 shape (1808 RPM). Right-handed hitter, starts from an even base and square stance, utilizes a leg lift trigger. Swings uphill with average barrel speed with some feel for the barrel. Opposite field gap approach with developing ability to turn on the ball. Hit well in game collecting two hits including taking an outside pitch for a well-struck double into the right-center field gap. Intriguing player with good upside. Great student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
