Jakob Ortiz is a 2026 C/RHP/3B with a 5-9 170 lb. frame from Rome, NY who attends Rome Free Academy. Medium frame with some strength to the build. Ran an 8.29 second 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, higher setup in crouch, receives way out front and releases quick off his back side, will improve results on throws as he gains more ground and works through the ball with more intent. Some feel in the infield, gets to the spot well and fields cleanly while releasing from a lower slot. Pitched as well, simple delivery with a short stride to release, hides well in a compact arm action, worked in the mid-60s with the fastball and showed some shape to the breaking ball. Right-handed hitter, works short to the ball, has some bat to ball skills with an opposite field approach at present, has some strength that way but will unlock more to the pull side in time.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
