Derek Lopez is a 2022 1B/SS with a 6-0 175 lb. frame from Allentown, PA who attends William Allen. Recorded a 7.78 second sixty-yard dash time. Medium frame with strong look to it. Primary first baseman that incorporates deliberate footwork through the fielding process, while fielding slightly off to the side. Displayed lateral agility around the bag, fairly quick turns to throw and developing arm strength up to 76 mph across the diamond. Right-hand hitter that hits from an open stance with a high hand set, high back elbow and leg lift trigger. Incorporates rotational lower half and elongated swing path to get to contact. Pull-side approach with rotational lower half mechanics and elongated, round swing path. Displayed developing bat-to-ball skills and feel for the barrel throughout. Will continued to improper with proper swing adjustments and refinement defensively.
