Preston Jones is a 2025 RHP/3B with a 5-9 168 lb. frame from Waxahachie, TX who attends Waxahachie. Primary right-handed pitcher with a medium athletic build. Showed solid two pitch mix with upside and strike throwing ability. Starts with a side step into a crouched belt high leg lift with a medium arm circle through the back, up to a three-quarters arm slot. Generates movement on each pitch with arm side run on the fastball with in the mid 80’s showing upside in the arm speed. Does a nice job maintaining arm speed on the secondary pitches with a slider in the upper 70’s flashing sweeping action and a changeup with depth in the low 70’s. Receives the ball deeper on the body in the infield bringing it into the midline with a longer gather as he showed some arm strength from a longer arm action. Right-handed hitter starts slightly open using a toe tap trigger. Showed some loft to the bat path working predominantly to the pull side with a weight shift into contact and some strength in the hands. Very good student. Named to the 2023 South Top Prospects Games Top Prospect List.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
