Daniel Rothenberg is a 2007 LHP/OF with a 6'2'', 185 lb. frame from Houston TX, who attends Bellaire HS. He has a good pitcher's build, with long arms and legs and some physical projection. Rothenberg has a high energy delivery with lots of deception for the hitter. He pinwheels his arms and legs and releases the ball from an extended 3/4's point. Rothenberg lands on a stiff front leg, which causes some recoil at the end of his delivery. Rothenberg's fastball was 76-78 mph and his command of this pitch was inconsistent. His best pitch in terms of quality and command was a 69 mph curveball that had tight spin and a good, deep bite to it. He also threw some 71 mph change ups. Rothenberg took balls in the outfield during drills and showed nice arm strength at 82 mph with smooth throwing mechanics. His delivery might be inhibiting his fastball right now. Rothenberg is a good athlete with a good build and you'd expect that he should keep improving. He is an incredible student off the field.
