KC Fall Softball Scouting Combine Afternoon Session
Peyton Westra is a 5'6, class of 2026 IF/OF from Polk City, IA who attends North Polk HS. Peyton is a young, up and coming fundamentally sound player who has a great chance to develop into a solid college prospect as her career continues. She ran a very good 3.29 20-yard dash with a 1.15 5-yard split. A primary infielder, Peyton has footwork that works really well on the dirt.. Glovework is smooth. She has a sound transition and her 55-mph throws are solid, show carry, and are accurate. Peyton also took a turn in the outfield. She is hyper aggressive and attacks everything. She fields with two hands and that works for her. Her transition is deliberate and her arm strength is playable. Her 52-mph throws are consistently accurate. At the plate, Peyton shows an advanced ability to bunt the ball. She shows a solid swing operation with a definite ability to power the ball. She has noticeable timing to contact with a flatter path and a slugger's lift. When she strikes the ball squarely, it travels. When on time and on plane, she can hit it a long way. Peyton has a chance to be a really good hitter. Peyton has the right idea. Her game, right now, is centered around her ability to hit the ball with some force. Her defense is sound now and will get better with maturity and attention to detail. As Peyton is exposed to higher level competition, her game should take off. She has the right approach and with continued effort and a gain in strength, she should reach her goals as a player. Bright future!.
