Jay Peters is a 2023 C/RHP with a 6-3 170 lb. frame from San Marcos, CA who attends Mission Hills. Tall lean framed backstop that showed ability to gain ground on the throws down with short quick arm action. The accuracy needs improvement to be able to nab would-be base stealers. At the dish, he showed plenty of quickness in the hands to pair with a slightly lofted path. the base is wide with minimal striding load. He displayed decent intent to the opposite field. On the mound, he operates out of the stretch exclusively, with tall and fall mechanics. The arm action is short with ball going straight to the ear with three-quarters slot. The fastball showed ample arm side run at times that was commanded modestly to both sides of the dish. The breaker showed short sliding break with plenty of ability to land it for strikes. Additionally, flashed a fading change which was effective due to the arm speed he threw it with. He produced tons of weak contact early in counts. 7.54 60-yard. Outstanding student.
