Jaquez Akins is a 2023 LHP/1B, OF with a 6-2 185 lb. frame from Jonesboro, GA who attends Jonesboro. Large and physical frame. Primary left-handed pitcher, Medium arm action, gets off line in the back. Has some arm speed with a high three- quarters slot with some crossfire action on the delivery. Repeats well. Fastball was 85-87 (2122 RPM) and has some arm side run. Can locate the fastball and the curveball well. 1-7 shaped curveball with some two-plane movement. The curveball lacks some sharpness but is a good change of pace pitch. Works well from the arm slot. Secondary outfielder, fields off the front foot with choppy steps and a passive approach. Good hands with a little thunk. Carries momentum well through the throw. Easy arm strength with easy carry. Left-handed hitter, starts from a medium base and a slightly open stance with low hands and a low back elbow, utilizes a small stride forward. Pull-heavy approach, very raw at the plate but shows good upside with strength present. Quick hands and bat, real loose in the box. Intriguing player with a high upside as they polish. Great student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
