LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2005 Pre Draft Showcase
LHP Darryl Jones (Spring, TX): Jones is a primary outfielder and was one of the top position prospects at the Showcase. He threw an inning and showed his arm strength, throwing 84-86 mph with a quick overhand arm action. It has been reported that he's touched 90s in the past, but he's very much a top outfielder for the draft.
Daryl Jones- OF- Spring HS, Spring, TX- 6'0"/180. Jones has a very athletic and strong body, and was one of the best position prospects at the event. He ran a 6.69-sixty, and he threw 86 mph from the OF with good carry and little effort. At the plate, Jones has a good hand load with a short stride and very good bat speed. He has power potential, and can already drive the gaps with authority. He has a great combination of tools for the next level. He reminds us a bit of former PG Predraft player and MLB all star Carl Crawford. Carl ran a bit better, but Daryl has a better arm. Jones has signed with Rice.
