Carlos Mercado is a 2022 OF/2B with a 5-7 148 lb. frame from Lithia, FL who attends Newsome. Lean young build with lots of room to get stronger. Right handed hitter, hits from a wide base with limited lower half shift into contact, rotational upper body swing, is consistent in his load and timing, bat speed will continue to improve with additional strength. 7.19 runner in the sixty. Primary outfielder on defense, is aggressive working through the ball and fields the ball cleanly, developing arm strength with a long over the top arm slot. Very good student.
