Sawyer Bates is a 2025 LHP/1B/OF with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from Flora, MS who attends Tri-County Academy. Long and lean athletic build. Works from the first base side of the rubber with a high hand set delivery, low front side in his delivery with a compact arm circle, arm slot higher than expected with his lower front side, deceptive mechanics overall. Fastball had lots of velocity variance, topped out at 76 mph on occasion with some arm side running life. Curveball showed solid spin and some 1/7 depth as a solid second pitch. 7.47 runner in the sixty. Arm works well from the outfield with good looseness and extension out front, makes on line accurate throws. Left handed hitter, hits from a calm simple approach with a rotational upper body swing, showed some feel for the barrel especially when he was being aggressive and meeting the ball out front, flashed his power potential in the games. Good student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
