Chaz Merrell is a 2027 MIF/RHP, C, 2B, 3B, IF, OF, UT with a 5-8 135 lb. frame from Dos Palos, CA who attends Dos Palos. Features a medium, athletic build. Ran a 7.77 60-yard dash. Primary infielder. Showed the ability to make the routine play. Still developing consistent glove actions and footwork from the catchpoint into the release. Was accurate with most throws across. Also worked out at catcher. Displayed a sound setup with a good arm action into release. Can create some carry at times. Recorded a 2.40 pop time. Right-handed hitter. Utilizes a closed stance with a toe tap timing mechanism. Showed solid bat speed on a linear path. Flashed some power to both gaps. More will come as barrel accuracy continues to develop. Right-handed pitcher. Showed a repeatable delivery down the mound. Throws from a 3/4 slot. Hides the ball well into release. Fastball sat 65-68 mph. Paired it with a low-60’s curveball and flashed a changeup. Very good student.
