2022 National Academic Showcase (Tues/Wed)
Sheppard Tyler is a 2023 RHP/C with a 6-2 190 lb. frame from Austin, TX who attends Anderson. Sheppard is a tall physical presence on the mound. He has little herky jerky to his delivery but that's what makes him so fun to watch. Good life on his fastball from three-quarter slot, carries through zone well. The curveball needs some refining and worked on executing out front of head for better consistency and sharpness. As a catcher, Sheppard gets jumpy at the ball and a little long armed. Some tightening up of these skills will be an instant benefactor. Tyler has a good swing and uses his lower half to generate some good power. Slightly open stance at setup, he has changing leg lift for timing and then shows a short compact swing and has good barrel especially to the pull side. Sheppard was named to the 2022 National Academic Showcase Top Team List.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
