Giovanni Buccino is a 2027 1B/RHP/3B with a 6-3 250 lb. frame from Clemmons, NC who attends West Forsyth. Large frame with lots of current strength, especially for his class and plenty of time to refine agility. Primary position 1B, working deliberately around the bag with confidence in his angles and plays. Glove work was a bit inconsistent but made the plays and displayed understanding for the spot. Full arm action on throws and showed 75 mph velo across the diamond. Secondary RHP, working from the full windup, using small side step to abbreviated leg lift before transitioning down the line. Tight hands at the letters into very deep, full arm path before accelerating through high 3/4 arm angle. Sinks into back leg before reaching balance point, losing some of his significant power in lower body. Gets over front side well but some timing issue cost him the strike zone here and there. FB is true as it peaked at 79 mph with sinking type spin traits. Didn't land the CB often, but it was a mostly vertically shaped pitch in the upper-60s. RHH with an inline stance, sinking into his legs to start his swing. Attacks the ball with intent to do damage and there is plenty of juice at contact. Tends to work the bottom of the ball a bit but it is justifiable with his powerful skill set. Launched some deep fly balls in game, you can see the power potential longterm. Strong set of skills and will be fun to watch where his talent leads him.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
