2022 Summer Midwest Workout Showcase (July 7)
Austin Schmallenberg is a 2023 OF/ with a 5-11 145 lb. frame from New London, WI who attends New London. He has a good frame with a lean build and plenty of room to add strength. Showed good speed, running the sixty yard dash in 6.95 seconds. Primary outfielder that sits back on the ball and fields it off to the side. He fields the ball to the side off his body with a taller posture. He uses a higher transfer and showed solid accuracy to the bases. Left-handed hitter that starts in a wide base that is slightly open with high hands and a high back elbow. He showed good hand quickness and features a downhill swing through the hitting zone. He looks to stay gap-to-gap with his line drives.
