The 2017 National Showcase served as a coming out party of sorts for Torres, Jr., a relative unknown outside of the Northeast. That all changed over his two innings of work, throwing plenty of strikes, sitting in the 92-94 mph range with limited effort and adding a hard, putaway slider. Nobody in the industry would question the fact that Torres has another jump or two left in the tank given the ease of which he throws and the fact that he’s one of the youngest players in the entire 2018 draft class.
